Named after and inspired by the famous family that profoundly influenced Florentine, Italian and European political, cultural and intellectual life for several centuries, De’ Medici has become an institution in the Marbella area-and a reference point for quality Italian cuisine. Since 1990, Brigitte and Gianni Pigani have been highlighting the riches of the Florentine kitchen with a dedication to perfection that would have made the great Medici of the Renaissance proud.
The private parking, beautiful dining terrace and quality food have made De’ Medici a favourite with many a regular customer, and Gianni is always welcoming back familiar faces. Yet, even as he does so, he is firmly in command of his ship, making sure that everything is done to his exacting standards. On a busy summer’s evening, we sipped an aperitif as we studied the menu, which stands out for two reasons; the wide range of choices available to suit every taste and mood, and an introductory page that briefly recounts the story of the Medici and the philosophy behind the restaurant.
